Underestimated

In June 2015, I visited the line between Amiens and Boulogne-sur-Mer for the first time. Carrying timetables of the locomotive-hauled intercity services, all I would have to do was finding decent spots. Exploring the line for the very first time, means looking a lot… and also missing some interesting trains, unfortunately. On the moment I found a good spot, the train had passed 5 minutes … Continue reading Underestimated

Finding out how to scan negatives

I started making photos in 1999, in the era of analogue photography. My first camera was a semi-automatic Pentax reflex camera that I could borrow from my mom. The camera has servec e well until 2003 when I bought my own camera, an analogue Canon EOS 300V. Idea: Indian Summer

Check out a few examples here: A … Continue reading Idea: Indian Summer

It was a  rainy Saturday. Thus my main expectations were moody shots in abandoned as well as non-abandoned industrial … Continue reading One day around Duisburg

Night shooting

Nighttime is usually not the moment to shoot moving objects. Darkness makes the use of long exposure a necessity. Unless you use flashes. Today I found an interesting article about the technique of flash shooting moving trains. It gives a lot of useful information: kimandrenaud.com. I have also been experimenting with this technique, inspired by Gary Knapp‘s photos. In january 2015, the port of Antwerp was the … Continue reading Night shooting

Small trains under a massive structure

Antwerp’s main trainstation is a beautiful monument. During the darker months after rush hour is a great moment to visit and enjoy the atmosphere. The darkness outside and the artificial lighting inside work greatly together to emphasize the magnificent roof structure. Wandering around on the relatively empty platforms and station halls is a good way to relax and experience the vastness of the immense building. December 13th 2015 … Continue reading Small trains under a massive structure
