SZ container train to Koper.
Railroad, Railscapes, Slovenia

Commuting

Trains need quite some time to overcome the height difference from the higher mountains towards the port of Koper. This can give you just enough time to commute between well chosen spots, so that you can make photos of trains in 2 directions at two totally different locations. In this case: Podpec and Bezovica. Much more on my Koper page. Continue reading Commuting

Destination unknown

This is quite a mystery train. The anonymous loco is operated by PKP Cargo, and running in the direction of Hungary. Destination is still a mystery. It passes here through the remote town of Podpec. More pictures of this beautiful rail line >here<. Continue reading Destination unknown

It was a nice day

4th of July 2025 turned out to be an interesting day in the north of France. I started in Achiet and went until Busigny, ending near Cambrai. I summarized the full day on 1 page. Enjoy! Continue reading It was a nice day

A calm evening rush

After the pictures in Bertry I headed to Escadoeuvres for ending the day. I set up the gear  in a field and started waiting. It took a while, but in the end 3 freights passed me. The evening rush of south and southwest bound trains from the northern hubs does run via multiple itineraries and it’s not easy to know which one. A few years … Continue reading A calm evening rush

Busy behind the graveyard

After the SNCF infrastructure train I didn’t really know what to do next. I didn’t expect another freight train to Cambrai soon, so I was looking for something else to do. Too late I thought of the Eurocity to Paris, whic would be positioned well for the sun south of Busigny. But there was also a freight from Aalst heading south, so I gave that … Continue reading Busy behind the graveyard

SNCF infrastructure train from Lille to Tergnier.

A yellow surprise

After the photos in Feuchy, I was informed of an infrastructure train that would run from Lille to Tergnier. I should be able to make it right on time in Landas. However, right on time meant that upon arrival on the spot the level crossing gates closed and the train passed. No luck. So I took my time to drive to the Somain – Cambrai … Continue reading A yellow surprise

Hexafret diesel loco with freight train from Somain to Achiet.

Wagons for maintenance

With no long-distance trains on the way, I concentrated on finding a spot for the train serving Inveho UAB, a freight wagon maintenance facility located in Achiet. Wagons are brought in from Somain before noon. The return train with serviced wagons arrives back in Somain around noon. Continue reading Wagons for maintenance

A colorful evening

The past few days have been very sunny and warm. Apart from working in the garden, this is also good weather for spending some time along the tracks. Tuesday evening after work I rushed to Hoeselt. I didn’t expect much, but I found out that HSL Belgium’s 186 383 was scheduled for a train to Antwerp. After parking the car though, I saw that a … Continue reading A colorful evening

Late winter diesel day

Wednesday March 19 2025 was a very sunny day, and I was glad that I was able to take a day off work. Some interesting traffic to and from the stone quarry of Quenast was announced. First of all, TUC RAIL with a train headed to Schaarbeek, hauled by two class 55 locomotives. These locomotives may have lived their last winter, as rumors go that … Continue reading Late winter diesel day

At the tree farm

On a misty winter evening, HSL Belgium hauls a train of brand new cars from Zeebrugge towards Magdeburg. For this picture I had a hard time keeping the camera lens free of moist. I had to warm it up in the car until right before the train came to prevent it from fogging. High atmospheric moisture on the cold lens surface risked to totally blur … Continue reading At the tree farm
