Johntainers

The port of Antwerp is origin and destination of many container trains. I got to shoot a few at the end of August, beginning of September 2022. Operation of the trains was very diverse.
First highlight are the regular Transfennica container trains, connecting the Combinant terminal in the north of the port of Antwerp to Bayonne, near the Spanish border. Except for the last mile, the train is hauled from origin to destination by a Traxx locomotive from DB Cargo France, formerly ECR.

Next up for the sake of this short post is the traffic to and from the Krommenhoek shunting yard. The tidal Deurganckdok sees many ships from the Mediterranean Shipping Company, MSC. Even though MSC has started running their own trains with subsidiary Medway, other operators also still transport MSC containers.

And let’s not forget Railtraxx, which I also caught with containers from Athus, and with the regular (chemical) container train between Combinant and Sluiskil.
