A final effort

A few hours later than previous photo. Fingers frozen, and getting tired. On the way back to the highway we came across a Captrain engine waiting to leave the Alaska section. This would have been a nice one to follow, but me and my friends lights were fading out so it was time to head back to our respective homes. Continue reading A final effort

A cold and foggy winter night

For some reason, we always decide to go out for night shots during the cold months of the year. If we would start at 7 or 8pm that would make sense, but usually we start around 10 or 11pm. *Mental note to go out for night shots during the warm summer months. The night from january 22 to january 23 was a beautiful one. Light … Continue reading A cold and foggy winter night

Crawling up the hill

It took me 3 times to get this photo right. 3 days in a row, and on the first day of 2016, after sleeping off new year’s eve and before heading to more booze at family visits, everything fell into place. Probably not because of my night before, but rather thanks to trains being perfectly on schedule: around the same time as the benelux train … Continue reading Crawling up the hill

Empty beltway

This is a rare image: little traffic on Antwerp’s beltway, on a weekend. It was the second to last day of the year, that may explain… Since an agreement was reached about the Oosterweel project, this photo may not be possible anymore in a couple of years. Part of the project includes covering of this road and I’m curious what this site will look like … Continue reading Empty beltway

Europorte @ Euroports

Trains also rest sometimes. Not too long, of course, who wants an expensive pile of metal just standing there… So consider us lucky to catch this Europorte locomotive resting right where we just witnessed the delivery of some freight cars, and even more lucky that it did so close to the sign of the owner of the site, Euroports. Continue reading Europorte @ Euroports

A gap in the fence

Final destination. The cars are delivered at the client’s, to be loaded or unloaded. There were only a few gaps in the concrete fencing, we had to grab the opportunity to shoot the train when it presented itself. Continue reading A gap in the fence

Working hard

At night it’s quiet in the port of Antwerp. Almost no trucks, no cars… but if you look well, you can find some trains. During one of the longest nights of the year, we found one at the small Lillo marshalling yard. The B-Logistics’ crew was working hard to deliver the goods on time at a client’s site. We had to hurry to get our … Continue reading Working hard

Missed the train!

This train used to be my daily commute to work. Until it was replaced by Fyra trainsets and then rerouted over Brussels Airport. Since then, regular IC trains were the fastest option. That gave me the opportunity, though, to capture it on photo while waiting for my train. If I arrived at the station early, that is, which didn’t happen all that often. I was … Continue reading Missed the train!

The speed of light

With the previous photo I mentioned that I beat the train by bicycle. At the Oosterweelbridge, I also beat the train while changing from a telephoto to a wide angle lens. Of course, it could also say something about the speed with which the train was moving 🙂 After passing the Oosterweel bridge, this train still has a long distance to cover before reaching it’s … Continue reading The speed of light

Some action from my part

Yes, some action from my part was required to take the next shot. I figured I could maybe overtake this train with my bicycle and make it to the Oosterweel bridge first. I won. Continue reading Some action from my part
