Last chance
The last full day of the trip. Before heading back towards San Francisco, we wanted to give the Donner Pass railway another try. The day before, we didn’t get to make a photo of a freight train, hopefully we would be able to make up for it.
We had seen some possible photo locations close to were we had been waiting the day before, east of Truckee. We were lucky with the trains that day: after a short time the first train appeared behind the corner, treating us with this view. Notice the snowcapped mountains in the background.

Lost golf balls
For our final shots, we crossed the Truckee River and climbed up a slope on the other side of the valley. The slope was close to a golf terrain: we found balls all over the place.
So, hoping not to be hit by a lost golf ball, we set up our gear, hoping to see one more train before heading back home. We were lucky: the last minutes of waiting delivered not one, not two, but three trains.
With a craving for more we started heading to San Francisco, where we would attend a baseball game. We made ourself a promise that next time we would come here, the first stop will be the Donner Pass railroad line.

I hope you enjoyed the photos from this trip. If you want to re-read the full story, or just look at the photos again, you can find the full report in the Trip Reports section of this website. Feel free to contact me in case you have questions.
